Nowadays, a lot of folks are forced to be economical in their activities in order to survive. Does this actually mean that we then have to come to a compromise on our standards because of being in a position to afford only at a cheaper price? Former California Deputy Insurance Commissioner Gary A. Hernandez, has died as the result of a pulmonary embolism, the state Department of Insurance announced.
Hernandez was a leader in Latino community, a dedicated public servant, talented lawyer, inspiring community leader, and a lifelong volunteer, said current Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones. “His passing leaves a tremendous void and he will be greatly missed.”
At the time of his death, Hernandez was a managing partner at SNR Denton , an international law firm with offices in San Francisco. He joined the firm in 1997 after serving in the public sector. He

Here are a few sobering statistics when it comes to dog bites:
- Each year 4.7 million Americans are bitten by dogs, children making up the largest majority of victims
- 800,000 Americans receive medical attention for dog bites each year
- Half of all children will be bitten by a dog by the time they’re high school seniors
- Senior citizens are the second most common dog bite victims

A study underway at the University of Alberta (Canada) may offer more detail on health effects that exposure to welding fumes and metal dust have on women in metalworking and electrical trades, according to a report from Canadian OH&S News. The research project, called “Womens Health in Alberta Trades Metalworking and Electricians” (WHAT-ME), is a collaboration among researchers from the UoA, Northern Alberta Institute of Technology and the Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training.
